They are probably running out of ideas a bit on how to milk the playerbase with new content evident with all the new ship classes like hybrids, subs, support cvs etc.
This way most people be forced to pay to advance fast to get any ships or to play your more expensive ships. I think they are doing a great thing for their future revenue stream. Losing money while playing though is the worst thing, so cutting premium time is the worst changefor me since PT helps with maintaining that basic funding you need to play high tier ranked. One problem is knowing all the other ships you face, but I can barely remember the strengths and weaknesses of the couple of dozens ships I have.
